Paint You Blue

What have you been through,
My falcon-hearted friend?
With trust askew, a shattered wing hopes to mend.
Maybe tonight, we'll paint you blue.

Laughing and living as hard as we can, we do our days and nights on cue.
Clicking through the turnstiles of your theme-park world,
Uniformed men gather the emotional debris of what's been sold.
Strangely out of focus, you're coming into view; yes, I'll paint you blue.

Flash-form lives with so much to do.
Too busy being fun, we're snapping pictures and missing moments.
It's only when we're awake alone on a Sunday morning that we do lament,
The days seemed simpler then; For now, I must paint you blue.

In child-like, suspended animation, you wander in a hazy milieu.
In these secret dreams you wait for a man in a cape.
In the meantime, you settle for "Relationships On Tape."
Reaching inside you, for you, let's paint you blue.

We kick through life's street scenes like the leaves of autumn hue.
Indeed, we rush past the palette of people in-between.
Performing arbitrary kindnesses show us what we can possibly be.
Like falling autumn leaves, our brightly colored lives don't renew; instead I'll get close, and paint you blue.

In our world of continuous transfiguration, do we have enough room for two?
Let's bust a move from our searcher's shuffle, vacuous and cold
Beyond what's selfish and afraid, toward a love more bold.
Let's awaken your spirit, and like the dark before dawn, I'll paint you blue.
